A Commitment to Learning, Not Just Credentials
Most homeowners aren’t looking for a list of certifications and we don’t blame them.
What matters is whether the people working on your home continue learning, continue improving, and continue challenging their own assumptions.
At Collom Construction and Pacific Weatherization, education is part of our culture. Team members are encouraged to invest time in professional development, whether that’s industry training, building science education, safety programs, communication skills, leadership development, or emerging technology.
The licenses, certifications, and partnerships on this page are not the goal. They’re the result of an ongoing commitment to learning.
Learning Is Part of the Job
The construction and home performance industries continue to evolve. New research emerges, technologies improve, programs change, and building science advances.
We believe professional growth should be ongoing, not occasional.
“Every book you read quietly becomes an employee in your business—working in the background, sharpening your judgment, and expanding the opportunities you can see.”
That’s why we provide a weekly professional development incentive that encourages team members to dedicate time to learning and growth. Topics may include building science, energy efficiency, safety, communication, leadership, customer service, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
Some learning comes through certifications and formal training programs. Other learning comes through books, workshops, mentoring, conferences, and continuing education opportunities.
Our goal is simple: create a team that is always improving so homeowners can benefit from better communication, better recommendations, and better outcomes.
Education That Supports Better Decisions
Most homeowners don’t need to know every certification acronym. What matters is knowing the people working on your home are committed to learning, improving, and staying current.

How Learning Helps Homeowners
Credentials, training, and professional partnerships are not goals in themselves. Their value comes from how they help us better serve homeowners and provide more informed guidance.
Ongoing education helps us ask better questions, identify potential issues more thoughtfully, and avoid relying on assumptions when evaluating a home.
It also helps us provide clearer explanations. Building science can be complex, but homeowners deserve recommendations they can understand and feel confident about.
Learning creates space for better options. Rather than viewing every situation through a single lens, we can discuss alternatives, tradeoffs, and solutions that align with a homeowner’s goals.
Ultimately, better information supports better decisions—and better decisions often lead to better comfort, greater efficiency, improved durability, and stronger long-term outcomes.
Our goal isn’t to have all the answers—it’s to help homeowners make informed decisions.
Credentials Matter. People Matter More.
Certifications, training programs, licenses, and professional partnerships all serve an important purpose. They help us learn, grow, and better understand how homes perform.
But credentials alone do not create trust.
Trust is built through listening, communication, honesty, curiosity, and a genuine commitment to helping homeowners make informed decisions.
Our goal is to use what we learn to better serve the people who place their trust in us.
Understand the problem. Explore the options. Move forward confidently.
